The vision of ALS Arizona is plainly put but mighty powerful: to end ALS and create a world free from this devastating disease. Here, Taryn Norley, CEO of ALS Arizona, discusses the nonprofit’s goals for the new year and its exciting schedule of 2025 fundraising events.
What is the mission of ALS Arizona? We are dedicated to advocating for a cure while empowering individuals living with ALS to embrace life to its fullest potential. Through comprehensive support services, resources, and community engagement, we stand alongside individuals diagnosed with ALS and their families.
What prompted the start of the nonprofit? Recognizing a critical gap in support services for the ALS community in Arizona, our organization emerged as a response to the urgent need for localized, personalized care. We saw that individuals with ALS and their families required a strong, local support system that understood the unique challenges of managing ALS in our state’s diverse communities.
What is the greatest reward in being involved with the nonprofit? The most profound reward is witnessing the direct impact we have on enhancing the quality of life for our ALS families. Each smile we bring, each burden we lighten, and each moment of relief we provide reinforces our commitment to this mission. Seeing our support transform challenges into manageable situations for individuals with ALS and their loved ones drives us forward every day.

What is the biggest challenge the nonprofit faces? Our most significant challenges include maintaining adequate staffing levels and resources to meet growing community needs, securing sustainable funding streams, and consistently delivering our high standard of care. As the ALS community grows, we must scale our services while ensuring each patient receives the personalized attention and support they deserve.
What are your goals for 2025? Our strategic objectives for 2025 include:
– Surpassing our ambitious event fundraising targets
– Expanding our planned giving program
– Optimizing resource allocation and operational efficiency
– Strengthening our unique identity distinct from national organizations
– Scaling our support services to meet the increasing patient population while maintaining quality care
How can readers help? There are several meaningful ways to support our mission:
– Volunteer your time and skills
– Advocate for ALS awareness and policy change
– Help educate your community about ALS
– Make a financial contribution to support our programs
– Share our story and mission with others

Your hard work and dedication made our personal journey through ALS hell so much better, I don’t know what we would have done without you care services and informative support. And you are working hard to emphasize that very necessary portion of your mission as opposed to the National ALS which is not very interested in helping the families that are struggling with ALS!
