In the fall, The KNOW Women, an Arizona-based women’s networking group with more than 6,000 worldwide members, announced the creation of KNOW Cares, a nonprofit focused on empowering, educating and raising funds for women and youth worldwide. Here, Sarah Benken, CEO of KNOW Women, discusses the mission and goals of the new nonprofit as well as how readers can give to this heartwarming cause.
What is the mission of KNOW Cares? To empower, educate and engage women and youth globally through give-back initiatives related to Leadership Development, Women in Business, Community Impact and Education.
What prompted The KNOW Women to initiate the nonprofit? It is instilled in the mission of KNOW Women to give back in whatever capacity they have. KNOW Cares began as an idea of how each city could make a greater impact in their local community, and it was the idea that we could make an even greater impact globally. With so many incredible women in KNOW, it just made sense.
Why was it especially important for KNOW Cares to aid women? The idea of KNOW Women is to lift and rise all women be it in their endeavors, whether they are thinking about starting their own business, they are a seasoned business owner to large executives and CEOs, we all need a little help now and again to get started and to help us continue to grow. KNOW Cares aids women and youth with providing grant funds for leadership programs, pitch competitions, local grassroot organizations and, of course, educating our future creators and entrepreneurs.
What is the greatest reward in being involved with KNOW Cares? Creating something that will making an impact that helps many women and youth across the globe for generations.
What is the biggest challenge the nonprofit faces? Donations! We need others to give so that we can in turn give to those that need it and help build schools to educate the next generation.
What are your goals for 2021? We are looking to raise enough funds this year to build a school in a developing country in 2022!
