Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino is located 15 miles outside downtown Santa Fe, which is the the third largest art market in the country. The Buffalo Thunder Resort reflects the rich culture throughout the property with stained glass windows and Native American Art on display. Santa Fe is also the highest elevation for a capital city in the U.S., which means they have beautiful weather year round. In the summer the temperatures can be up to 20 degrees cooler than the Phoenix area, making this a great place to visit to escape the heat in the summer.

Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder Resort has 395 guest rooms and suites that feature vibrant hues, carved headboards and innovative accents in Native American Pueblo style inspired by the Pueblo of Pojoaque’s former Governor George Rivera, a renowned artist. We had the opportunity to stay in The Governor’s Suite (as seen on ABC’s The Bachelor Season 19) for our stay. This 2,000 square foot bi-level suite features floor-to-ceiling windows and an extraordinary view deck overlooking the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It also features a one-of-a-kind private loft with a deluxe Jacuzzi tub.
Dining
Dining options at Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder Resort include their signature restaurant Red Sage, a new American steakhouse that offers a rotating seasonal menu that highlights locally-sourced ingredients. They also have a great wine selection displayed in a glass enclosed wine cellar at the front of the restaurant. This spot is perfect for a evening of fine dining. Iguana Café offers a casual setting with New Mexican and Mexican-influenced breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. The Pool Grill serves up light poolside fare, beer and cocktails under the New Mexico sun at the resort’s outdoor pool. The Grill at Towa Golf Club offers casual dining for lunch with views of the golf course fairways, and fresh grab and go breakfast items for morning golfers. You can also order room service and Starbucks coffee is available to order in the lobby or at any of the restaurants (always a major plus in our book!).
Things to Do
There is plenty to do without even leaving the Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder Resort. Try your luck in the 61,000 sq. ft. casino, relax by the indoor or outdoor pool or play a round of golf on what has been named the “Best Golf Resort in North America.” Wo’ P’in Spa, known as Medicine Mountain in the local Tewa language, offers luxurious services including a diverse range of massages, facials, body treatments, manicures and pedicures. Santa Fe is well-known for its art and food scene. If you want to venture off property, we highly recommend checking out Joseph’s of Santa Fe, a culinary pub in downtown Santa Fe. Chef Joseph Wrede believes restaurant service and food is art, and that is certainly evident when you dine there. Another gem we found was Dr. Field Goods, a farm to table kitchen serving New Mexico Fusion with great service as well. If you love art, you must visit Meow Wolf, an immersive, interactive experiences to transport audiences of all ages into fantastic realms of story and exploration. You can also order cocktails at the Float & Cafe Bar that are inspired by the art exhibits.
Dog-Friendly
The Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder Resort is extremely dog-friendly! They even have a dog-park on property where your pet can play off-leash. Dogs up to 75 pounds are welcome and there is a $75 non-refundable fee.
