Wedding Planning: Holiday Engagements

Award Winning Event and Wedding Planner Nicole Arend is sharing her wedding knowledge and expertise with us every month.

Just engaged? Turns out about 40% of engagements occur between Thanksgiving and Valentines Day. And why not! There is something about the winter and the holidays that make this time so romantic. And a sparkly new engagement ring is the perfect holiday gift!

Now that you are engaged, you should definitely take your time to celebrate your engagement – and when you are ready to officially start planning, we have prepared a few steps on where to begin.

Most importantly, go see your jeweler right away. They can make sure the ring fits properly and give you tips on how to keep it in perfect condition.

The minute you get engaged, everyone (and I do mean everyone!) will be asking for your wedding date. But that cannot happen until you choose your venue. I suggest choosing a date range based on the season and if you want your wedding around any major holidays.

Before you make that appointment with a bridal salon, or book a wedding professional, close your eyes and imagine what kind of style and vibe you want to set for the wedding. If nothing comes to mind, that’s where I can help! Wedding Planners are great at helping narrow down exactly the style of wedding by asking you all of the right questions! And if you already know that’s great too! There are many sources that can help narrow down the right venues to start looking at that match your wedding style.

Sit down with your families and set a budget. It’s best to have this discussion very early on so you can have a realistic picture about what you can spend.

Next, choose your wedding party! The earlier you ask, the sooner you can enlist help and your wedding party can start saving.

Finally, hire a Wedding Planner. If you’re a super-busy couple, have demanding jobs or big dreams for your wedding, then you should hire a full time wedding planner. They can help you prepare for the entire event, from the engagement party to the honeymoon. Wedding Planners can help with everything or as little as you need.
