Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge

The First-Ever Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge, where chefs from more than a dozen Arizona hotspots – including several right in this community – will use their culinary prowess to re-imagine one of the six beloved brands of Girl Scout cookies – Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs, Samoas, Savannah Smiles, Trefoils or Thin Mints – into a custom dessert menu item.

Each restaurant, whose chef selected their cookie flavor via a random drawing, has agreed to feature its dessert on its menu from February 1 to February 28, 2014, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the transformation of Camp Sombrero.

The participating restaurants, and their creative desserts, are:

Camp Sombrero, perched at the base of South Mountain Preserve, is owned by the Council and has served girls over the last 40 years.  This 14.5 acre site will be transformed into the Leadership Center for Girls and Women.  This urban program center, with camp appeal, will provide leadership training for girls and women statewide, give girls their first camping experience close to home for some, and serve the surrounding community groups, partner organizations and schools.  The Leadership Center for Girls and Women will be a space where girls can explore and develop a fundamental belief in themselves and their abilities.  The leadership created in this space will, in turn, transform Arizona.

Girl Scout Cookies will be on sale January 27 – March 9, 2014. Unlike past years, the Girl Scouts will not be taking orders but will have all cookies on hand for immediate customer purchase. GSACPC hopes that this ‘direct sale’ model will increase customer satisfaction and cookie sales.
