Creekside Lunch with Tibetan Monks

L’Auberge de Sedona’s Creekside Lunch with Tibetan Monks is back for the fifth year at Sedonya Conscious Living Center on March 17.
The Tibetan monks will be creating the Maitreya Sand Mandala (the Buddha of Love) at Sedonya Conscious Living Center for 10 days. The sand mandala is a Tibetan Buddhist tradition involving the creation and destruction of mandalas made from colored sand; each grain of sand is intentionally placed with a blessing.
On Friday, March 17, the Tibetan Monks will be at L’Auberge de Sedona to conduct the closing ceremony of the mandala. A sand mandala is ritualistically dismantled once it has been completed, and its accompanying ceremonies and viewing are finished to symbolize the Buddhist doctrinal belief in the transitory nature of material life. Upon its dissolution, the blessed sand will be mixed with water in Oak Creek and given back to the Earth.
Following the Disbursement of Sand Ceremony and blessing of L’Auberge de Sedona, the resort invites guests of L’Auberge along with Sedona guests and locals to dine with the monks as we celebrate the positivity of the world. Lunch will be served with selections highlighting the spring menus of Cress on Oak Creek. Pre-paid lunch tickets are required and a portion of the $125 ticket will be given as a donation to the monks’ monastery.
The monks are in the United States completing a two-year tour. Volunteers will be with the monks, who have traveled with them for years, to assist in translating and answering guests’ questions.
