Skylight Hospitality Cocktail Showcase

Slated for Monday, Nov. 7, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Rough Rider AZ, the Skylight Hospitality Cocktail Showcase gives this year’s Skylight mentees an opportunity to serve up custom cocktails created as part of a six-week mentorship program.

The Skylight Hospitality Mentorship Program links women, femme, and nonbinary professionals in the spirits industry by pairing tomorrow’s industry standouts with today’s top talent. The Cocktail Showcase at its conclusion gives Phoenix-area participants a chance to show off the skills they’ve learned from top leaders across the country.

In addition to sipping on sample cocktails from the eight participating Skylight Mentorship Program pairs, attendees can enjoy light bites, mingle with the mentees, and take part in a silent auction featuring rare and high-end liquor bottles along with other premium prizes.

The Skylight Program pairs women, femme or nonbinary Phoenix-area bartenders with industry icons who’ve shattered the glass ceiling and paved the way for others to do the same. While statistically there are more women working as bartenders in the industry, they are often paid less and underrepresented in higher paying and higher profile positions than their cis male counterparts. Some of the most significant reasons for this is employer and consumer bias which can often lead to discrepancies in training and promotion.

Participating mentees are able to counteract this by gaining access to guidance from those who have once been their shoes on everything from bar management and cocktail creation to equity, diversity and inclusion practices along with personal brand-building.

Tickets are available for $75, with proceeds from ticket sales benefiting Another Round Another Rally and its efforts to provide emergency funding and career-enhancing educational opportunities to hospitality workers.
