Amber Anderson

Hometown: Phoenix, AZ

What is unique about your brand: our clothes are designed for that “IT” fashionista and for that girl in Arizona who wants to be that “IT” fashionista.

What is your brand’s style: our designs are inspired by the 70’s with my modern, fun, boho, & chic touch.

What footprint/legacy will your brand leave the world with: we want to promote people to live a little bit more and love little bit more & if we can all do that, I think we can all make the world a little bit better… Live & Love.

First fashion job: I worked at American Eagle as a sales associate for a few months. I was lucky if I worked 1 day a month, but I mostly just wanted the employee discount!

When did you know you had a passion for fashion: I’ve always had a passion for fashion. My Grandma had a passion for it, and I think that grew on to me. She tried teaching me how to sew when I was young, but at the time I didn’t really have an interest or appreciation for it. We were at Prescott Mall almost every day. 90% of the time there we didn’t buy anything, but we certainly tried on 90% of what Prescott mall had to offer! She would always correct my style too. She hated how I mixed colors lol!

Person who has impacted your FASHION life the most: Everyone closes to me. If I keep you close that means you impact me more than you may know. It’s important to me to surrounded myself with people that are just as passionate as I am. They inspire me and give me the drive to always do better.

Your biggest fashion accomplishment (SO FAR) in your eyes: I would say when Natasha Castles wore my dress for her speech at TED Talks, it was such a huge honor!

The biggest FASHION obstacle you have overcome: I’m a self-taught fashion designer, So I would say my biggest obstacle was fit. The fit of the garment. does the arm hole need to be higher? Lower? Wider? Same thing for sleeves, necklines, shoulders, bust, waist… the list goes on. It was a very long trial and error process but I’m finally in a place where I’m happy with the product quality I put out!

A designer who inspires you: Hmmm… I’m inspired by so many different things and people it’s hard to just pick a few. But I would say Ralph Lauren & Zac Posen. I really admire their passion for fashion. How they tackled their career highs and lows. And how they balance the art and the business sides of the spectrum. Ralph Lauren especially has helped shape my creative process.

Favorite quote: “I don’t design clothes. I design dreams.” —Ralph Lauren

Advice to someone pursuing a career in fashion as a designer: NEVER. GIVE. UP.

How has the Phoenix Fashion Week #DesignerBootcamp impacted your brand? It has really helped me smooth out some of the rough edges I had on the the business side of things and has opened a window of new opportunities that I didn’t know were there before entering this program!

What can fans expect to see from your collection in October: A whole new collection.
