Fabulous People: Peter Johnson

Since 2017, Arizona’s own Phat Scooters has skyrocketed in popularity in the electric scooter market–with Peter Johnson, CEO, at the helm. Learn about Peter Johnson…

Hometown: Phoenix

First job: Bar server at Chili’s.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: I love golfing, heading up to Flagstaff with my family, building Legos with my son, wake surfing and pool time.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: My biggest accomplishment would be marrying my wife. I’ve done a lot in athletics and business over the years, but finding “The One” is a big deal and not easy to do. I found her, and then got to marry her and have an amazing son and build a family, which is better than anything else I’ve ever done. Businesses will come and go but building a family is a legacy.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Biggest obstacle I’ve overcome would have to be my last business and being involved with a bad business partner. Getting out of the business was a long process and one that could have had lasting effects on me and my family. Dealing with the legal side and decisions was something that taught me what not to do and what to look out for next time. Building a business is never easy but getting out of one can be equally hard.

Someone who inspires you and why: Definitely my dad. We’ve been in business together for 17 years, and he has always mentored and supported me and been my best friend. He is a leader, teacher and mentor to many people. He is steadfast in his beliefs and unwavering in his character and ethics. I know I can always trust him, which is important in business, and never doubt his decisions. He’s taught me many things throughout the years but integrity is everything no matter what and never sacrifice it. You can never get it back.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Find good mentors that can help you and guide you through the process. Don’t rush into anything and make sure you do your research.

Favorite quote: “You are who you surround yourself with.”

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I’m a Halloween baby and love dressing up in costumes regardless if it’s Halloween or not. If there’s a party theme, I’m in!

What makes someone fabulous: I think someone fabulous is generous and kind to others and tries not to burn bridges. I’ve always tried to help others out whenever possible.
