Favorite ways to spend family time in AZ: We live walking distance to the awesome Upward Projects restaurants on Central Ave., so we love walking to Windsor and Churn for dinner and ice cream. The splash pad at Luci’s at the Orchard is another favorite in warm months, and I can enjoy a beer while the girls play. Our go-to getaways are to “Arizona’s Beach” down in Rocky Point or up north in Pinetop. The girls have their favorite ice cream shops everywhere we go.

Your most rewarding fatherhood moment: The great thing about being a dad is that we get to enjoy these moments each and every day. I never know when we are going to be experiencing something for the last time or trying something for the very first time. I try to make a conscious effort to be aware of these moments as they truly are a gift.

Biggest challenge as a dad: I think the biggest challenge we face as parents is wearing multiple hats inside of our family unit. We are constantly shifting gears between earner, leader, protector, teacher, nurturer, disciplinarian and more. We just have to pray that we are giving our children the correct feedback at the right times to help them in their journey.

A father who inspires you and why: Greg Strunk, my father, is my inspiration. When we are adults, I think we look back on the little things. I will always remember the games he coached, the support he provided, the tough talks we had and his unconditional love. My goal is to create those same fond memories for my children.

Best piece of advice for a new dad: It’s hard to be present all of the time, but it’s the most important thing we can aspire to be as fathers. Be consistent in the way that you show up for your children. Leave outside stressors at the door, so that you can love, listen and engage.

Your biggest hope for your children: I want them to be good people, who are comfortable in their own skin and driven to make a difference in this world.

How are you celebrating Father’s Day: Are you even a “dad” if you aren’t watching the final round of the US Open on Father’s Day?! I’ll be relaxing with my girls and counting my blessings.
