Hometown: Born in Mesa; grew up in Memphis, TN

First job: Pharmacy cashier at Super D Drugstore

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: Strolling the Desert Botanical Garden, grabbing an iced green tea and a slice of gluten-free chocolate mousse cake at LGO, staring at Camelback from the Joya Spa terrace at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia. When time allows, a drive to Sedona to sit in the silence at Chapel of the Holy Cross, and take in those stunning views in Boynton Canyon at the Enchantment Resort.

Person who has impacted your life the most and why: Known affectionately as “The Aunties,” my aunt Jeannine and her wife Rosalía have played a profound role in my life. Jeannine and I always shared a special bond, and when Rosalia entered our family 27 years ago, the two of them functioned very much like surrogate parents, teaching me what unconditional love looked like, how to develop healthy boundaries, the mind-body-spiritual connection and the power of standing in your personal truth. When I met my husband nearly 23 years ago, he felt a connection with them from day one. So much so, they each stood up for us in our wedding, were in the delivery room with us when our daughter, Lyla, was born, and then became her beloved godmothers. There’s nothing like seeing Lyla with them – and even sweeter that Lyla and Rosalía share the same birthday.

Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes and why: My 21-year marriage to my husband, Jim, and raising our nearly 17-year-old daughter, Lyla. Ask anyone close to us and they’ll refer to us as “Team Newman.” When Lyla was little, we lost everything during the Great Recession, and in every day since we thank God for showing us that what remained was actually the most important: each other.

The biggest obstacle you have overcome: I have experienced some major challenges and intense trauma in years past, but nothing quite compares to overcoming the long-term effects of limiting beliefs and scarcity mindset. I’m living proof that if you change the quality of your thoughts, you can change your life.

Someone who inspires you and why: My daughter, Lyla. She is by far my greatest teacher.

Favorite quote: “You’ve always had the power, my dear. You just had to learn it for yourself.” —Glinda the Good Witch

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Be the resource, offer solutions and, above all else, be genuinely invested in the best interests of the clients you have the privilege of serving.

What you think makes someone fabulous: Simply put: Authenticity.
