Fab Moms: Arizona

Fab Mom: Debbie Pontikas

Debbie Pontikas of The Brokery in Phoenix is a top-producing real estate agent/advisor and mom of twin boys. In 2020, she ranked in the top one percent of all local agents.

Mom of: Alex and George, 9-year-old twins

Hometown: Plano, TX

Favorite ways to spend family time in AZ: Hiking, riding bikes or Phat scooters, dining at local restaurants like Chestnut, North, Hillstone, Chelsea’s Kitchen, Postino and LGO. Attending the boys’ soccer practice and games, family game night at home and–yes–playing video games with the boys!

Your most rewarding motherhood moment: There are so many. I think first when I decided to quit my six-figure corporate marketing job to be a mom. I was one promotion away from CMO but decided I didn’t want a stranger raising my kids, so I quit the weekend before I was supposed to go back to work. I realized I finally got my promotion to CMO–Chief Mommy Officer! Now being able to show my boys that a mommy can also run a successful real estate business and that hard work and determination pays off is really rewarding to me.

Biggest challenge as a mom: Balance! Trying to do it all–be the room mom, the soccer mom, a good wife all while building a top-producing real estate business.

A mother who inspires you and why: My mom. She always put her kids first, and still does. She blessed me with a sense of humor, a love for music and a passion for family.

Best piece of advice for a new mom: It’s OK to ask for help. There is no possible way you can do it on your own, and that’s OK! I wish I had come to that realization sooner.

Your biggest hope for your children: That they understand and value hard work. That they want for nothing because they are not afraid to do what it takes to be successful. That they love and cherish their own children like I do. And that they always want to spend time with their mom, and that they feel they can trust me with anything.

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day: My husband and boys will probably spoil me and let me “take the day off” with breakfast in bed, perhaps a day at the spa, and what I hope is some quality family time with lots of laughs and hugs and snuggles…while they still let me do that!
