Hometown: I grew up in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
First job: I worked as a clerk in a service rental store. My specialization was lawn mowers, water pumps, and anything you would ever need for a good old-fashioned Western Pennsylvania hog roast.
Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: I love hiking the mountains in the reserves at either sunrise or sunset.
Your biggest accomplishment and why: My biggest accomplishment has been working on viricidal masks that actually kills viruses like COVID-19. One such mask is before the FDA currently, and I am very proud of the work done here in Arizona to develop this technology.
The biggest obstacle you overcame: Personally, the biggest challenge I have encountered was the passing of my father. He was my mentor and an amazing man who survived religious persecution to become an amazing surgeon. I got to work with him for a while as a student, and he really helped shaped who I became as a person and as a physician.
Someone who inspires you and why: I am always drawing inspiration from my patients, some of whom have very difficult medical challenges, but handle their lives with grace, decency and kindness.
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Be yourself and try to always look at the bigger picture of why you are doing what you are doing in service.
Favorite quote: “Your heart knows the way. Run in that direction.” –Rumi
Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I DJ as a hobby. Most recently I DJ’d the wedding of a long-time patient’s daughter’s wedding.
What makes someone fabulous: Their overall energy.
