Tonto Bar & Grill in Cave Creek serves dishes that fuse Southwestern and Native American ingredients to preserve Arizona’s heritage and the history of the property.
Located at Rancho Mañana Golf Club, Tonto Bar & Grill overlooks the beautiful golf course. They offer seating inside, where the dining room has a charming, rustic ambiance. Several large patios offer views of the golf course and Skull Mesa, Elephant Butte and the nearby Tonto National Forest.
Co-owner John Malcolm heads up the front of the house by personally greeting guests and remembering specific details of their preferences. John works closely with the servers, hostess and bartenders to ensure each guest has an exceptional experience. His expertise and training with the staff was obvious from the hostess to the server.
Chef Kurtis Purdy recently refreshed the menu with new summer dishes, while keeping some staple favorites.
For appetizers, we highly recommend the Tempura Ahi Tuna Roll, wasabi-soy vinaigrette and gari shoga to share. For a light, summery option, go for the Roasted Yellow Tomato and Honey Mango Gazpacho with Fresno chili crema, mango pico de gallo and toasted pepitas.
We were so impressed with the salads here, and based on the feedback we received from our social media followers, so is everyone else. Chef Purdy takes classic salads and gives them a twist, each bursting with flavor. Our favorite was the Roasted Beet Carpaccio made with arugula, honey pistachio dust, kombucha vinaigrette, blueberry goat cheese pannacotta and hibiscus reduction.
For entrees, you’ll find sandwiches, burgers, seafood, steaks and more. Some of our favorites are the Cast Iron Seared Scallops with smokey tomato Pima grits, edamame succotash, nopal pico de gallo, basil pesto and candied Fresno chilies; and the Coffee & Port Braised Boneless Short Rib
with brown butter whipped white yams, heirloom carrots with shallots, parsley and a Port wine jus lie.
Tonto Bar & Grill also offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.
Tonto Bar & Grill is open 11am to 9pm daily, serving an all-day menu. Sunday brunch is offered from 10am to 2pm. along with the regular menu.
Happy Hour is served up daily in the bar and cocktail patio daily from 3pm to 6pm and includes $1 off all beers, $2 off all cocktails, $2 off all wines by the glass and $2 off appetizers.
