Restaurant of the Week: Bandera Tacos

Bandera Tacos in downtown Flagstaff is a locally owned restaurant serving craft tacos and margaritas.

Opening in May 2018, Bandera Tacos is owned by Don Hulen. We had the pleasure of meeting and sitting down with Don during our visit, and we loved the passion he has for the restaurant and the food and drinks they serve.

To start your meal at Bandera, you must order the Elotes – smoked corn, chipotle ranch, cotija cheese, agave, cilantro and chili oil. It is absolutely delicious and will wet your appetite for the next course.

For entrees, you’re eating tacos of course. The Three Taco Combo is the way to go. Pick any three tacos with a side of southwest beans and Spanish rice. Bandera has the perfect variety of tacos to choose from, including Carne Asada, Ground Beef, Al Pastor as well as vegetarian options. Bandera can accommodate dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan. The tacos are served on gluten-free corn tortillas and there is also an Avocado taco that uses half an avocado in place of the tortilla.

The vegan tacos were actually our favorite. The Brussels Sprouts Taco is made with charred Brussels sprouts and a vegan togarachi aioli. The Avocado Taco is served on half a grilled avocado with NexVeg vegan meat (locally produced in Flagstaff), cabbage pico de gallo and a mild chili oil.

Bandera Tacos is opens at 11am daily for lunch and dinner.
