Hometown: I’m from Mexico City, but I’m based in Portland, Oregon.

First fashion job: I started working in the industry when I was 16 as a makeup artist. I worked for magazines and fashion shows. That’s when I decided to study fashion. When I was in college, I worked as a fashion stylist, mixing my knowledge in beauty with my editorial passion.

How would you describe your style? I love getting inspiration from old films, traveling around the world and comfortability. My style is a fusion of culture, elegance and glamour.

When did you know you had a passion for fashion? I designed my first garment when I was 9 years old. My life turned around fashion since I can recall. When I was younger, my sister and I would improvise shoots in our mom’s backyard. I’d do the makeup and dress my friends, and she’d take pictures. I believe that fashion for me is more than a passion; it is my entire life.

Your biggest fashion accomplishment so far and why? I’ve dressed celebrities and worked with many brands from Adidas to Timberland, but my biggest accomplishment is when I create a piece and my clients tell me how comfortable and unstoppable they feel while wearing my designs. For me, that’s everything!

The biggest obstacle you overcame? This industry is beautiful and harsh. I’ve definitely had ups and downs. I’ve been doing it professionally for over 16 years, and I can tell nothing is impossible

A designer who inspires you and why? I have so many designers that I’m obsessed with, from Yves Saint Laurent to Elsa Schiaparelli, it’s so hard to choose from. I admire their innovative minds and creativity.

Advice for someone pursuing a career in fashion as a designer? Keep working on your art; don’t give up. You are unique, and the world needs to hear your voice!

What can fans expect to see from your collection in October? My collection in October is called “Divine Women,” inspired by my favorite mariachi song, and it’s going to be a mix of culture, silhouettes, textures and a punch of glamour. I will be presenting my unique cuts and the launching of my beachwear collection.
