Hometown: Orcutt, California

First job: I worked for a food catering company when I was in high school and quickly realized that was not for me. I picked up small jobs here and there before I went to college. I think I always knew I wanted to be involved in a creative industry but growing up in a small town that never seemed like it could be reality.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Honestly, I don’t think I could say a “biggest accomplishment” in my career, yet. When you look at the big picture, I am a very young stylist in both hair and fashion. I have accomplished things that I am proud of but, right now, I am focused on my goals more than my accomplishments. Always acknowledge your accomplishments but keep going because it doesn’t stop. Your accomplishments get you to your goals.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: There’s obstacles every day but specifically I would say finding myself as a stylist. I continuously will be working on this as I want my style to be unique and ever evolving. I came from a very closed-minded city in many aspects. I loved the way I grew up but when you leave that, you realize how much there is to grow and learn. Navigating that journey has been the most terrifying yet fulfilling experience. Choosing how/where I want to share my gifts is exciting.

Someone who inspires you and why: Outside of my personal life, I wouldn’t say there is a specific public figure that inspires me. I think it’s important to a certain degree to learn to inspire yourself. I value recognizable stylist/public figures and observe their art which naturally spark an idea or vision in me. The way my brain works, I draw inspiration from everything: streetwear, watching TV or music videos, natural elements, trends, fabrics, etc. I think the inspiration for me is observing people who have an influence on others.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Be consistent and reach out to people. Network with other local professionals but hold your value as a stylist. Experience all aspects of this industry because it’s difficult to get establish but nothing is impossible.

Favorite quote: “You have to believe that nothing is too good for you.” Once you truly understand that statement and hold the value in yourself, you will accept experiences that make you grow more than you thought you could.

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I rarely feel like I am working. Being a creative person and finding an industry that allows you to express your creativity is very reassuring. When you are a creative and you begin interacting with other creatives, that is when magic is made. You share a common ground with the people you work with but the individuality of every contributor is what makes this industry special. The goal of my work and everything I do is to inspire.

What makes someone fabulous: As cliché as it sounds, I think it comes from within. How someone carries/views themselves and how they interact and treat others. I believe being fabulous has to do with confidence in yourself and having good hair and style can be a very important boost for some people.
