First job: My first job was picking strawberries when I was 11 or 12. The experience helped inspire me to use botanicals and fresh/organic ingredients in my current spa practices.
Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: One of my favorite ways to spend my free time is with my family. My son is a soccer player, so I spend a lot of time on the soccer fields.
Your biggest accomplishment and why: One of my proudest accomplishments was moving to Arizona with my husband when I was 19. We had minimal resources and I had just graduated from esthetics school, so it was a bit scary. Upon arriving, I started a new role at the front desk at The Phoenician Spa. I began working extra shifts and ultimately grew to become a treatment provider.
The biggest obstacle you overcame: The spa industry is consistently evolving and ever-changing, which at times can be challenging. I have to be ready for anything new that comes my way, so I’m always keeping my finger on the pulse of recent trends, products or treatments.
Someone who inspires you and why: I’m inspired by those who work towards a purpose and are authentically themselves.
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Keep going! The spa industry is constantly evolving and very competitive, so it’s essential to keep moving forward and meet new people. You’ll find you learn a lot from the relationships around you.
