Restaurant of the Week: Talavera

Talavera, located within one of the most stunning resorts in the valley, offers a truly magical dining experience. Besides being attached to the beautiful Four Seasons Resort in North Scottsdale, Talavera gives you breathtaking views of Pinnacle Peak and the high desert surrounding it. If you need to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, come watch the sunset with an excellent crafted menu at Talavera.

Whether you sit inside the dining area or out on the patio, you still get the fabulous views through the large windows and fireplaces that make the room cozy and inviting.

The night begins with the wine menu, and I can honestly say I have never seen such an extravagant wine list. Everything you can imagine was listed and the wait staff helped to handpick the perfect pairing for the meal. Upon the return from the wine cellar, it was time to begin the meal. The menu offers unique and delightful starters that are available for sharing or as a meal for one. Just a few of the favorites were the Wedge Salad with crab, blue cheese, bacon, and avocado along with the Butternut Squash Risotto with morel mushrooms and crispy kale. This was also accompanied with individual poppy seed rolls in mini iron skillets with a side of toasted garlic butter that looked too good to eat… but I am glad I did.

For the main course, we had the Diver Scallops with squash purée, pickled mushrooms, petite vegetables, and prosciutto; as wells as the 8oz Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Tenderloin with red wine braised cabbage and ancho-huckleberry sauce. The side dishes are shareable, so you can order one for two people or a couple to share. Some of the side dish choices were garlic parmesan mashed potatoes, mixed mushrooms, and charred corn with cotija cheese.

To finish off the delish bottle of Pinot Noir, the Croissant Crusted Crème Brulee and the Hibiscus Glazed Berries were the perfect way to end the meal.

Whether you want to plan the perfect date, impress the out of town family, or just escape the city, Talavera is the place to do it. Enjoy the breathtaking views, the extensive wine menu, a delicious meal, and amazing staff at this valley favorite.
