The Coffee Builders to Open in Phoenix

Porter Barn Wood unveils The Coffee Builders, a luxurious coffee and sandwich shop located in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, which is set to open in Summer 2023.

Porter Barn Wood, known for its exceptional custom furnishings and decor, is embarking on its most ambitious project this summer. It is converting a former 1960’s storefront located in Downtown Phoenix into a trendy breakfast and lunch cafe called The Coffee Builders. Porter Barn Wood has designed, built and curated the menu for this new hotspot. The Coffee Builder’s menu will feature Danish-style sandwiches called smørrebrød paired with premium coffee.

Initially, the space was intended to be an experimental showroom for Porter Barn Wood’s hospitality clients to showcase its new materials, finishes and service items. “After we started building it out, I decided we should go all in and create a one-of-a-kind breakfast and lunch experience,” says Thomas Porter of Porter Barn Wood, in a press release. “Working with so many talented chefs and restaurateurs across the country, we were inspired to create our own space to showcase some of the amazing dishes and unique culinary aspects we’ve discovered over the years of searching the globe for culinary and design inspiration.”

Monday through Friday, The Coffee Builders will offer an ever-changing variety of its signature dish, smørrebrød. These open-faced sandwiches will be stacked with vibrant, farm-fresh ingredients on freshly baked Rugbrød, a traditional Danish rye bread. You can also enjoy a light and crisp lavash pizza with flavors like roasted garlic honey-sriracha BBQ chicken, as well as daily specials, including BBQ goose sliders.

The Coffee Builders will also have an array of fresh-baked German and French-inspired pastries. Drawing from childhood memories, Porter was lucky enough to obtain the original recipe from his favorite childhood bakery, allowing him to recreate his favorite blueberry cream cheese bourbon maple turnovers.

To complement the pastries and smørrebrøds, The Coffee Builders is creating a custom espresso blend with local roasters. This espresso blend will be used in its affogato, a dessert that pairs coffee and ice cream. Other premium drinks include loose-leaf teas, cold brews on tap, blended drinks and smoothies. In keeping with Porter Barn Wood’s Southern roots, The Coffee Builders will proudly serve sweet tea and sodas from Dublin Bottling Works, Texas’s oldest family-owned soda factory. Notably, it will feature Texas Dublin 1893 Red Cold, a soda praised by Porter in a recent press release as a “must-try.”
