Arizona Science Center to Debut New Dorrance Planetarium

Phoenix’s Arizona Science Center is revolutionizing its Dorrance Planetarium, turning it into North America’s most technologically advanced planetarium. Teaming up with Cosm, a pioneering company in immersive technology, media and entertainment, the planetarium will boast an 18-meter LED dome display, setting a new standard for immersive experiences in science education.

As Arizona Science Center celebrates its 40th anniversary, the reimaged planetarium symbolizes its dedication to innovation and excellence in science. Since its opening in Phoenix in 1997, Dorrance Planetarium has welcomed millions of guests, and with its upcoming transformation, it aims to become a global leader in immersive science experience. The new-and-improved planetarium will feature will feature a cutting-edge 18-meter diameter, CX System LED dome display with 8K+ resolution.

Cosm earned its reputation for powering some of the world’s most prestigious planetariums and science centers. The partnership between Cosm and Arizona Science Center signifies a bold step forward in immersive media, setting a new standard for audience engagement with scientific content. Arizona own’s Dorrance Planetarium will become the third institution set to be powered by Cosm’s LED CX System, alongside Prague Planetarium and the Jane & John Justin Foundation Omni Theater at Fort Worth Museum of Science & History.
