Restaurant of the Week: Fratelli La Bufala Scottsdale

Food simply tastes better in a restaurant where you’re treated like family. Such is the case at newly opened Fratelli La Bufala Scottsdale, located at The Grove.

Though it got its start in Southern Italy in Campania, Fratelli La Bufala now has more than 70 locations globally–from Naples and Milan to Dubai–and growing. When it recently opened at The Grove in Scottsdale, the restaurant celebrated its second US location; the first is in Miami.

Fratelli La Bufala Scottsdale, home to a full dining room, cocktail bar (where guests can get the famous Fratelli La Bufala Espresso Martini, among other sips) and spacious patio, offers a 4,200-sq.-ft casual, comfortable setting where diners enjoy high-quality ingredients in authentic Neapolitan pizzas, handcrafted pastas and more. Though the divine dishes are reason enough to return again and again, the restaurant’s welcoming staff–lead by the affable and passionate Fabio Sodano, restaurant owner–make each meal a total pleasure. Diners feel like family, gathering around a hearty meal prepared with love.

With the restaurant’s centerpiece being a large, wood-burning oven, pizza is naturally a standout at Fratelli La Bufala Scottsdale, crafted with only the finest ingredients and made in Neapolitan tradition. The Margherita di Bufala is a simple stunner, with mozzarella di bufala, San Marzano tomato sauce, basil, EVOO and Parmigiana DOP. It offers the perfect balance of char and chew–absolutely delicious.

Fratelli La Bufala Scottsdale’s grass-fed beef meatballs and homemade ricotta gnocchi alla Sorrentina, much like the Margherita pizza, showcase how you don’t need frills or over-the-top presentation to be incredible. An unexpected hit is the Arizona burger, a grass-fed Angus burger topped with DOP provolone cheese, caramelized onions, arugula and homemade aioli. The real kicker is the delicious and airy bun, which is crafted of homemade pizza dough. (Vegetarian, gluten-free and kid-friendly options also available.)
