Beginner’s Luck in Old Town Scottsdale

From the brilliant minds of critically acclaimed concepts The Gladly and Citizen Public House comes Beginner’s Luck, a morning-to-night restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale with plates from James Beard-nominated chef Bernie Kantak.

The newest culinary gem to debut in Old Town Scottsdale, Beginner’s Luck is the brainchild of In Good Spirits Hospitality Group, known for local favorites, including The Gladly and Citizen Public House. Like its sister concepts, the new restaurant brings creative cuisine and thoughtful beverages to Old Town Scottsdale.

Situated on Main Street, Beginner’s Luck is a unique concept that has mastered the art of an all-day menu, with plates served from morning to noon to night. During the day, it offers a spacious garden-like patio adorned with hanging flora and contemporary furnishings, leading guests into a charming sunlit dining area. Here, an open kitchen and a grand copper bar set the stage for lively brunch gatherings with friends and family. As the sun descends, soft bistro lights twinkle, creating an intimate ambiance perfect for Chef Kantak’s culinary creations and expertly crafted cocktails.

Lucky 7 Cereal Bowl

For brunch, indulge in the beloved Lucky 7 Cereal Bowl featuring warm blue corn grits, chilled chia pudding, coconut-pecan granola, blue cornflower, fresh berries and a drizzle of agave; the 12-hour Niman Ranch Pork Bowl, with super slow-roasted pork, blue corn grits, crushed cucumber, pickled onion, jalapeño, avocado, lime, cilantro, chicharron and queso fresco; and the Lucky Burger with certified Angus chuck and brisket, white cheddar, grilled onions, Grandma Francis’ chili sauce, housemade mayonnaise, lettuce and a brioche bun.

As day transitions into night, the dinner menu unveils a tempting array of shareable plates and main courses, including the signature Steak Fritz, a coffee-rubbed prime NY strip accompanied by hand-cut fries, Hungarian goat horn chile butter and paprikash sour cream; pan-roasted Norwegian salmon with mashed Yukon gold potatoes, chai beurre blanc, Blue Lake beans and snow pea leaf oil; and the crab and shrimp roll, served with a butter-toasted New England bun, shrimp and crab salad, chives and charred lemon.

Save room for the delectable freshly baked pastries and desserts crafted by the talented pastry chef Benjamin Cadriel. These sweet goods include raspberry cake with a key lime whipped cream cheese and a butter crumble; Midnight Cereal with chia pudding, blue corn grits, agave syrup, coconut-pecan granola and berries; and Good Fortune Cake, crafted with flourless chocolate cake, stiffened cream, whiskey caramel, toasted hazelnuts and blueberries (to name a few). Each of Chef Kantak’s plates is inspired by his fondest childhood memories and is crafted with only locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.
